Pont-Aven and its painters

This small picturesque town where numerous painters have stayed, such as the famous Paul Gauguin, is open in the south of Brittany. Previously, the flour trade gave the town its reputation.

Pont-Aven offers a pretty walk through flowers in bloom along the river in the steps of Gauguin. Known as the town of painters, Pont-Aven has 60 art exhibitions and galleries. This area inspired numerous artists captivated by the green in bloom countryside, the exceptional landscapes of the small port, and the multitude of footpaths. The Musée de Pont-Aven (Pont-Aven museum) traces the creative era and the inspirational locations in this famous town.

Culinary art is much in evidence here with the globally known Pont-Aven galette.
Several biscuit factories and chocolate makers are open to the public. Plenty to delight those of you who are the most fond of your food!

The Bois d’Amour national forest is a location favourable to relaxation, where the reflections of the sky in the river will enchant you as as they did the painters of this famous town. The Promenade Xavier Grall, located in the heart of the town, is made up of a group of footbridges and a pedestrian route along the washing places, which enhance the banks in bloom and the stone bridges. The sailing resort, one of Cornouaille’s most significant ports, is also a stopping place in your journey of discovery of the town’s treasures. It is an ideal starting point for hiking or trips by boat to get to the port of Kerdruc, and its pretty houses with thatched roofs.
