Quimper, the Breton capital

Known as the major city of southern Finistère, Quimper has inherited an extensive heritage with the magnificent Saint Corentin cathedral, a gem of Breton Gothic art with magnificent windows.

This city, which has been classified as a “Ville d’Art et d’Histoire” (“city of art and history”), owing to the quality of its architectural heritage, will plunge you into the heart of the 16th century. The prettiest natural river in France is in Quimper and is called the Odet.

The leisure park Creac’h Gwen will delight those most fond of sports amongst you, in particular with its many activities (jogging, archery, climbing, tennis and canoeing…).
For art lovers, the Locmaria district, with its craft workers in earthenware and embroidery, proves a destination not to be missed.

Quimper is home to lovely properties such as the Lanniron château and a multitude of shops and craft workers’ workshops, proud to enable you to discover the entire local and cultural heritage. There are 3 permanent museums in Quimper: the Musée des Beaux-Arts (paintings, prints and drawings), the Musée Départemental Breton (Breton museum of history and traditions) and the Musée de la Faïence (earthenware). The Breton museum traces the history of the region since prehistory through to the present day.

The culinary heritage is also represented by the numerous biscuit factories, chocolate and sweet shops, crêperies and restaurants.

For complete immersion in the city of the Dukes of Brittany, raise your head to admire the half-timbered houses. The 310 hectares of gardens in the city are the perfect destination for lovers of the countryside and peaceful walks.
Quimper is a medieval city to explore which simply awaits you!
